Urban Noise, the series

Urban Noise has a special place in our creative life.
It’s a product of improvement and discovery.
Also, as the other side of the coin, of hitting walls, because we had set out to do too much and all of it together. We had to delay the project(s) due to their size and complexity and if was a frustrating decision.

Of course, it takes time to do and give your best and we have learned, during the years, to take that time with our products.

Urban Noise, more than any other product before it, wanted to be a Brand.
This may sound half-true since it was preceded by a few other urban, stylish outfits: Metro Style, Street Verve and City Vibes.
The truth is, Urban Noise was the very first of the series, even though it’s releasing last, because it was the hardest to put into store-form for both G8 and G9.
In fact, Urban Noise was created before G9 even happened!

Sometimes products remain behind the scenes for a long while, longer than planned if they happen to grow too large to manage in a timely manner. However, now that we have more control over our output and release ability, we will also be able to manage larger projects better.

Since the very beginning we treated Urban Noise as our stylish urbanwear endeavour and wanted it to be representative and super-stylish without being too flashy.
We were imagining it on the shelves and mannequins of the coolest downtown streetwear stores!

With Urban Noise we wanted to up our game and be as stylish as possible.
When we decided to create a Customize for Urban Noise, our styles construction kit, we wanted to do something special, go one step further.
Rather than a simple collection of styles as we had done with our previous Customize for Everyday, Verse and Zero One, we chose to create a streetwear collection for the Urban Noise brand.

Urban Noise is meant to embody the concept of dynamic streetwear.
It is a young, playful set that we envisioned for the city dweller. It is a sporty style for people living downtown, subway riders and parkhour inclined athletes (that’s why it features barefoot-like shoes).

A precious rule when creating a work or art and imagination is that is needs to be rooted in reality.
It has to be based on concrete rules that everybody knows so that it can be understood and appreciate no matter how far fetched from the actual state of things it is.
In the make-believe world of virtual clothing, for us this as always meant creating believable brands.

Streetwear brands often feature an element of protest, of self-affirmation or commitment and that’s the kind of message we tried to embrace, but we also strived to give it a constructive, hopeful nuance. We’re all powerless against the whole of society, but at the same time we can shape our own, more personal world.
This is apparent in both the graphics featured and the slogans and mottos.
There’s graffiti, but there’s also notepad thoughs and rush hour sketches. There’s a bit of everything and a lot of style.

It is only fitting, even though, again, not completely planned, that Urban Noise be our first product published independently. Sometimes the pieces fall into place by themselves.
